Instant Replay!!!

Instant replays were first used in the NFL in the 1986. They were initiated by NFL replay officials and coaches were not allowed to 'challenge'. This system lasted until 1992 when the NFL owners voted to discontinue the use of instant replay. Replay returned to the NFL in 1999 and coaches were allowed to challenge a maximum of two plays per game. For the 2004 season, the replay rule was amended to allow a coach a third challenge if the first two challenges were successful. Recently they have just been added to the college football game as well. With the new additions of instant replay in the sport, stadiums are having to adjust. Last season it cost about $100,000 for the Big Ten to install the necessary cameras into each stadium. This year it will cost the SEC, for example, nearly $700,000 to equip their stadiums. Kind of expensive for a maximum three minute decision.
